Psychosis: When Everything Seems Unreal

In this session, we will review the history of psychosis and psychotic disorders, discuss markers that help identify youth at risk for psychosis and psychotic disorders and emphasize the importance of early intervention and treatment of youth. 

ABOUT Dr. Sabina Abidi

Dr. Sabina Abidi developed the IWK Health Centre Youth Psychosis Program, an extension of the Early Psychosis Program in Nova Scotia, Canada. She currently holds a joint faculty appointment at both Nova Scotia Health Authority and the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. She leads the youth program whilst also conducting research in the area of high risk states of psychotic illness in youth. Dr. Abidi also has both research and clinical interests in the field of collaborative mental health care and currently is in the process of restructuring this program with an emphasis on fostering the relationship between primary care and child/adolescent psychiatry in Nova Scotia. Dr. Abidi enjoys teaching and is the coordinator for the Pediatric Residents for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
